Privacy Policy

Kodiak North is a personal capture assistant: you speak or type, and your notes, todos, and shopping items sort themselves. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
What we collect
- Account — your email address, used to sign you in (magic link or Google sign-in) and to keep your data tied to you. Authentication is handled by Supabase.
- Your content — the items you capture: shopping items, todos, notes, ideas, and memos, along with any due dates, lists, or reminders you add. This is the core of the service and is stored so you can see it across your devices.
- Voice — when you use voice capture, speech is transcribed to text on your device by Android, and the resulting text is sent to our service to be sorted. When you use the conversational assistant, audio is processed by our voice provider (ElevenLabs) to understand you and to speak back.
- Location— only if you create a location-based reminder. Your device uses your location to trigger that reminder; the reminder’s coordinates are stored with the todo. We do not track your location in the background otherwise.
- Calendar— if you grant calendar access, the app reads your device calendar to show today’s agenda. This stays on your device.
- Google Tasks — if you connect Google Tasks, we read the list you choose (titles, due dates, completion status, and timestamps) and write changes you make in Kodiak North back to that list, so the two stay in sync. We only access the single list you select, only while the integration is connected, and only for the sync purpose described here.
How we use it
We use your content to provide the app: storing your captures, classifying them into the right list, generating your daily review, sending reminders you set, and answering questions about your own items. We use your email to authenticate you and, occasionally, to send service messages such as a sign-in link.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that make the app work, and only as needed:
- Supabase — database and authentication (stores your account and content).
- Cloudflare — runs the backend that routes and processes your requests.
- Anthropic — classifies a capture into the right category from its text.
- ElevenLabs — powers the voice assistant (speech understanding and replies).
- Google — optional Google sign-in, on-device speech recognition, (with your permission) calendar access, and (with your permission) Google Tasks sync.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for advertising.
Google user data
When you connect Google Tasks, Kodiak North requests the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/tasks scope. With your permission, this lets the app read the task list you select and write changes back to it so your Kodiak North todos stay in sync with that one Google Tasks list. We do not access any other Google data and we do not access any list other than the one you choose.
Kodiak North’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular:
- We use Google Tasks data only to provide and improve the sync feature you opted into.
- We do not transfer this data to others except as necessary to provide that feature, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with notice to you.
- We do not use this data for advertising and we do not sell it.
- No humans read your Google Tasks data, except (a) with your specific consent, (b) for security purposes such as investigating abuse, (c) to comply with applicable law, or (d) as aggregated and anonymized data used to operate and improve the service.
You can disconnect Google Tasks at any time from the app’s settings; doing so revokes our access to your tasks. You can also revoke access from your Google account permissions page.
Data retention & your choices
Your content is kept until you delete it or close your account. You can delete individual items in the app at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, email us at the address below and we will remove it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your content is scoped to your account; requests are authenticated on every call.
Children
Kodiak North is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; we’ll revise the date above when we do. Material changes will be reflected here.
